You work hard abroad. When you send money home, you want the cedis to do something: help family, build a house, put money into a business. Not disappear into a transfer you did not compare.
A "zero fee" badge is not the whole price. Check the rate too. The real question is simple: how much leaves your account for the same amount to arrive in Ghana?
In these public quotes for roughly GH₵500 from Ireland, LemFi showed the lowest cost at €37.54. WorldRemit and Sendwave were next at €37.72. These are 5 October snapshots, not guaranteed winners for your transfer. Payment methods and MTN payout were not matched across all five apps.
Five apps. Different prices.
Total paid from Ireland for about GH₵500 received, including the displayed fee
| LemFi | €37.54 |
| WorldRemit | €37.72 |
| Sendwave | €37.72 |
| Wise | €39.92 |
| Remitly | €40.22 |
Target: about GH₵500 received. Sendwave showed GH₵499.94; Wise was approximate. This is a public-calculator comparison, not five like-for-like final checkout quotes.
Remitly's Irish total included a €1.99 fee. It was the highest Irish total displayed in this snapshot. That is why the fee badge alone cannot choose the app for you.
I use Remitly. That does not make it the cheapest.
I send money from Ireland with Remitly. I find it easy: sign in, follow the steps, make the payment. I have used it to send to America too. The ease of sending is what I like.
My 12 July 2026 receipt for MTN Mobile Money in Ghana shows €38.41 sent, a €1.99 fee and €40.40 charged. The recipient amount was GH₵500.01, at €1 = GH₵13.0178.
That is my real transfer, not proof of the cheapest app. A July receipt cannot settle an October price comparison.
Before you press send
- Compare the same cedis. Set the recipient amount to GH₵500. Compare the full amount you pay, not just the fee.
- Match the transfer. Same sending country, MTN MoMo payout and payment method. A bank-funded price is not a card-funded price.
- Check the offer. Is it a welcome rate or the normal rate? First-transfer offers are for eligible new customers.
- Check the arrival estimate. Use the estimate for your actual transfer. No provider in this comparison was proven instant.
The small print that matters
Only WorldRemit explicitly selected Mobile Money in this comparison. Wise used bank or account-transfer funding. Remitly labelled its quotes Everyday rates; normal existing-customer eligibility was not confirmed for every other quote. Prices can change.
Keep more of what you worked for.
Use this table as a shortlist, not a verdict. Check the lowest options against the app you already use. Then choose on the final cost, cedis received and arrival estimate. Easy is good. Knowing the price is better.
Sending from the UK instead?
In the same dated public comparison, WorldRemit and Sendwave showed £32.12, LemFi £32.22, Remitly £32.78 and Wise £33.99 for roughly GH₵500. The same funding and MTN caveats apply.
